Manor Downs

Manor Downs 018-small
Diego decided he wanted to go to Manor Downs to celebrate his birthday.. so we did just that. It was the last weekend they were going to be doing the live racing. I had been before, but it had been a really long time, but once we got there and watched a few races, it all started coming back to me. Diego and I started placing our bets, and we did really well. I don't think Diego came back with any money.. but I did. I started out with 2, $2 bets.. and I kept winning.. so I kept betting.. and I ended up betting all day on my first $4 dollars. On the next to last race I won $9.80 So, I bet all that plus an extra $2 on the last race.. and ended up winning $6.80. So.. I won all my money back.. plus an extra dollar something from earlier in the day. It was a lot of fun.

The races were all different distances.. on one of the mile long races.. after the race was already over.. and the horses were slowing down.. one of the horses, El Zaparista, stumbled.. and fell, he rolled over the jockey and bounced back up. He bucked a few times and then fell down. I FREAKED! I was soo sad.. I turned around and covered my eyes.. I had seen enough! I just wanted to cry.. but I kept it together. Help got there pretty quick, and they put up a cover so no one could see him. They took him off in a trailor. I HOPE he is ok.. but in actuality, I know he probably isn't. Oh and I don't know if the jockey was ok.. for some reason, he was not my concern. But, Diego said they took him away in ambulance too.. : /

Other than that incident, we had a really good time at the track.. we say it's probably a good thing that this was the last weekend, because we'd be back spending money next weekend too! After the races, we went to Shady Grove.. which was great as always!

What's it going to be?

Store

A month or more ago, they started clearing a small piece of land on the main road to our house.. between the first neighborhood and ours. It's in an awkward spot, so I didn't think it would be a store or anything useful.. but I've been watching it go up.. and I'm starting to think it really will be a store! So, now I am dieing to know what it's going to be. It's most likely going to be 2-3 stores, which betters the chances for it to be something I will like! My best hope is that it's a Dollar General. It usually right about there, when I realize I have forgotten something at Wal-Mart/Target/HEB. So, that would be awesome to stop in at DG. My next guess is a Mexican bakery.. don't know why.. but it seems like a good place for one. Not sure if that will be bad or good for us :D I also wouldn't mind it to be a Subway, or a nail shop.. so I can stop in for a brow wax on my home! I'm anxious to find out what it's going to be! With my luck, it will probably be an Auto Zone and washateria.

Quick Shout Out

Just wanted to give a quick shout out to our friend Reno... he completed his 90 day work out, on the p90x. Strict diet, and 90 days worth of hard core work outs... really does pay off. If you haven't heard of the p90x, or seen the infomercial... it's a set of 12 DVDs, and a meal plan. I don't know the details, but what I gather is.. there are different meal plans, and work out schedules for different body types. The schedule tells you what DVD to use each day. You choose the plan that fits your goal. Diego is also doing the p90x... he is completing his 51st day as I type. Can't wait to post his results! and show off that hot bod.. haha ;)

You can definitely see the difference!

Day Three

Easter! We woke up.. got ready and headed to DC. It was beautiful day! Bright and Sunny, just a little too cold and windy though! Lots of pictures from this day.

The Capital was a pretty far walk, so I just put my zoom to use!

You could actually get close to the back of the white house.

Day Two

Day 2 was the day we were supposed to go see the white house and all that good stuff.. but we woke up to rain.. and lots of it! Stephanie went to the rehearsal at 10 am, for her confirmation that night, and James made mil & bil runny egg sandwiches.. ick! Luckily, I had a left over sandwich from lunch the day before ;) When Stephanie got back, we headed out to see what we could see.. We only made it to the Jefferson Memorial.. it was just to yucky outside. My cheap umbrella kept flipping on me, which made everyone including me laugh a lot!

We decided to leave after this... we went to the grocery store and got food for Easter, and stuff to make cakes. Steph gave me and Mil a little cake decorating class... we made the cakes early and then decorated them when we got back from Steph's Confirmation that night. Sadly, I did not take one picture at the Confirmation.

Day One

We started out with the Pentagon. It was very surreal to stand there where the plane hit. (If you believe a plane actually hit, which Diego doesn't) I can't even imagine what it must have been like that day.

The building in back, the memorial in front
Where the plane it, you can see is lighter.. because it's newer.
Pentagon Building-small

There is a bench for every person that died here. The benches face different directions, the ones facing towards the building were the people on the plane, the ones facing away were in the building. All the benches are spaced out in birth date order. The youngest person was born in 1998, the oldest was in the 1930's.

I took this picture from the plane on our way home, of the pentagon.

After we left the Pentagon, we went across the highway to the Arlington National Cemetery. I must have taken a million pictures here. Everything was so beautiful! I have a lot of pretty pictures for my computer desktop!

A Weekend with Mil, Sil & Bil

So, I got back from trip on Monday.. it was a great weekend. I had such a good time, seeing all the sights.. and just being somewhere I'd never been. It was just me with the in laws, which made for some fun, and interesting times! :D I have about a million pictures to share.. so I will try and break it up by day.. so it's not one post, a mile long.

Waiting to get on our first plane

Headed to the Nations Capital!!!

Today I am leaving for Washington, DC. This trip is long overdue! I have not been on a plane since 2005! Seems like forever ago. I am going with my Mother in Law to visit my Sister in law, who actually lives in Alexandria, VA. Funny thing is, I could not get a ticket on her plane.. so, we are on different planes. All of our times, lay overs and stuff are the same.. so we'll just meet up at the check points! I can't wait to get going.. I will be back Monday afternoon... I'm sure I will have tons of photos to share when I get back!

Also... I will most definitely be updating my twitter while I am gone, so you can keep up with us there :D

A Quick Congrats

To my best friend from 4th grade, Kimberly who is now a proud mama! She welcomed her baby boy last Monday, March 30th. The babies name is Jax Parker. Kimberly was the only prego I knew carring a boy! So.. it's girls (for now) from here on out! Congrats again, Kim & Rock!

Someone Must Have Wished Me Luck!

Because I came in 2nd in the NCAA Bracket Tournament.. thing, I don't know what you call it. First place went to my Aunt Clonda's friend Christy, who is also one of our poker buddies! So Congrats on 1st place Christy. I think she won $175, and I won $75. Those brackets are so hard to predict.. I think that's what actually gave me a chance. You don't have to know much about each team to win! So I give myself a little pat on the back! :D
