We started out with the Pentagon. It was very surreal to stand there where the plane hit. (If you believe a plane actually hit, which Diego doesn't) I can't even imagine what it must have been like that day.
The building in back, the memorial in front
Where the plane it, you can see is lighter.. because it's newer.
There is a bench for every person that died here. The benches face different directions, the ones facing towards the building were the people on the plane, the ones facing away were in the building. All the benches are spaced out in birth date order. The youngest person was born in 1998, the oldest was in the 1930's.
I took this picture from the plane on our way home, of the pentagon.
After we left the Pentagon, we went across the highway to the Arlington National Cemetery. I must have taken a million pictures here. Everything was so beautiful! I have a lot of pretty pictures for my computer desktop!
The tulips were so pretty!
John F Kennedy and Jackie O's graves
Close up of JFK
This place is so big!
We watched the changing of the guards at the tomb of the unknown solider
A memorial for the Challenger
After the cemetery, we went to see the Iwo Jima Statue.. which was close by.
Notice the Capital, and Washington Monument in the back
Later that night, we went to eat for Dave's birthday. Macaroni Grill.. Yum!
