Shadow Creek

School
We got our Shadow Creek news letter this week, which notified us of some pretty exciting changes! One of them being, Shadow Creek Elementary! Not exactly sure where they are going to be building it.. but, it should be ready for the kiddos come August 2010! We are happy that our kids will be within walking or biking riding distance to school.(if we are still here when that time comes) Plus, it will raise the value of our home as well!
recycle
Another, extremely exciting addition is.... Recycling! We have lived here 3 years, and have always felt horrible about that fact that they do not offer any type of recycling. We started out saving our cans in an attempt to take them to a recycling plant, but I'll be honest.. that always got put on the back burner! We still have a trash can full of cans in our garage from the first year we lived here. Thankfully, enough people inquired about it.. and we will begin recycling Sept 1. So happy about that.

Visiting An Old Friend

Last Friday, I went to visit one of my oldest friends, Kimberly. Kimberly and I became best friends in 4th grade. We both suffered from "only child loneliness" so we spent pretty much all of our weekends together. Other than her baby shower in February.. I hadn't seen her since her wedding back in November of 2007! I definitely need to be better about keeping in touch with her.. because she was a really big part of my childhood! and I miss her a lot!! So anyway.. I went to visit her, and her parents.. and her 4 month old baby boy, Jax. It was like old times.. they haven't changed a bit. Same sweet people!

I didn't take any pictures while I was there.. soo.. next best thing.. copy and paste from Facebook!

Harper's Island

Harpers Island
I was really excited for this show to start, especially since they were advertising it as mini series. I knew it wasn't going to be a season to season show. Which I liked! I thought more people were going to watch but, turns out the ratings weren't too good. They even moved it to Saturdays... but, I don't care what anybody says! I enjoyed this show! So what.. it was a little cheesy.. and the acting wasn't real good, but it was damn entertaining, in my opinion. Plus, I love a good clue type mystery! The whole time you are wondering who could be killing all these people. Just as you think you figured it out.. that person ends up dead! Anyway, I think it ended perfectly and I'm glad I stuck with it!

Dexter

Dexter
My mom told me that my next series should be Dexter.. so I got it on Netflix and it's really good show. I got Diego into it too! We both really like Michael C. Hall. (David from Six Feet Under) Dexter is blood splatter expert by day, and serial killer by night. Only, he kills people who have killed other people.. and have gotten away with it. I also really like Jennifer Carpenter who plays his sister, Debra. They make a great brother sister duo... and they are married in real life! Anyway, Diego and I just started the second season.. we are trying to catch up before the fourth season starts on Showtime in September.

Water Balloons

Erica, Jerry, Jackson and Delaney came to hang out with us on Saturday. We had a nice evening hanging with the kids and eating spaghetti. Before they got there, Diego and I filled up several water balloons to play with in the backyard. As we were filling them up, those suckers were breaking like crazy.. we were soaked.

Of course, when it came time to actually play with them.. they would only break when they hit the grass! Diego ended up much more wet than Jackson, but I think Jackson had a good time throwing them at Uncle Daydo.

Congrats G Family!

My friend Jill, who I worked with at the doctors office had her baby! She had a little girl.. Claire Jane. I wish I could give more detail.. but, all I know is that she was born! haha.. I'm curious to find out if she was born on the 4th of July. That would be pretty cool. The only info I've gotten has come from Dave's (Jill's husband) Facebook page. Here is a pic of 5 year old Sophie and her baby sister Claire!

Sophie & Claire
Sophie is such a cutie pie! I held Sophie the day she was born,
so it's very weird that she is already this big!

July 4th

This July 4th we didn't have any real big plans.. we kept expecting something to come up.. but it didn't seem like much was going on.. So, we spent the after at Alamo Drafthouse. We saw Public Enemies. Diego really liked it, and I just liked it. It was one of those movies were I got a little lost in the middle and was unsure what was happening.. but then it came together at the end and I thought it was pretty good. We ate pizza and had delicious chocolate peanut butter shakes! Soo good! (I have to get a shake every time I got to the draft house!) After that we went to my moms house, where they were bbqing.. We watched Grizzly Man, a documentary on the man that lived with the bears.. it was a bizarre and tragic story... but interesting none the less. After that we had dinner and then headed home. We watched the neighbor hood fireworks from our backyard. I tell you, we get a nice show and don't have to spend a dime. Plus, you can see the fireworks that Kyle puts on from our backyard too. So, we just set on the fence and watched for about an hour. The neighbors.. few houses down, were having a party.. and they were pumping Michael Jackson jams.. so that was pretty awesome. My camera has a firework setting so I was excited to be able to finally use that.. the pictures came out sub par.. but interesting at the same time.

Interesting Sight

I was driving passed the Conoco near our house, and I saw this....
Giant Shopping Cart
It was so odd, I had to pull over and take a picture!
I mean, it's not everyday you see a giant motorized grocery cart getting gas!
Question: What the heck is this thing for???

Under Attack

Fire Ants

Ants have taken over our kitchen! One day last week, there was a trail going from our back door all the way to the cats food bowl, they were feasting on my babies food! Then on Sunday, I had made dinner and packaged up the left over cornbread to take for lunch the next day. Well, Monday morning.. I walk into the kitchen to find those little bastards were covering the counter, all in the baggies and they had managed to take the entire top layer off the cornbread.. and it was in a pile on the counter. Freakin' sick! I wish I had taken a picture because it was so bizarre!I bought some ant spray for kitchens, and some ant traps hopefully that does the trick!
