I'm very proud of myself... for picking up my wedding scrapbook and getting back to work. I've taken a... oh.. 6 month break, it's nice to start over with fresh ideas. I'm not close to finishing, but I am making progress! Here are some of the pages I've done in the past week.
This blog started out as my 101 things to do in 1001 days, but has turned into a general blog. I will be detailing the happenings in the Ybarra Household.. Marking things off my list and jabbering about other junk that comes to mind!

Locks of Love
I decided the other day, that whenever I decide to cut my hair.. I want to donate the clippings to Locks of Love. They need a 10 inch pony tail.. which for me, a 10 inch pony tail means I would have to cut my hair up to my mouth. I'm not ok with that.. so I will just have to continue to let it grow a while longer.. But, that's the plan for now at least.
Jury Duty
Jury Duty was very uneventful.. I didn't get picked.. and I missed a day at Schlitterbaun with the fam.

I've Been Summoned
Next Monday the 21st, I have to report to the San Marcos courthouse for jury duty. The last time I received a jury summons was about 2 years ago.. I lived in Travis county and I actually got picked to sit on the jury. It was a very cool experience. It was a murder trial, where the defendant was pleading self defense. I can't remember exactly how it went down.. but there was a girl, around the age of 19, who was hanging out at her families house (note: these were some ghetto people! Lots of alcohol and cocaine involved) and her mom's boyfriend started hitting on her.. so she called her "friend" who was a much older man, to come pick her up. (the friend is some one she was sorta dating, but basically she was really just using him) When the friend showed up.. mom's boyfriend and his brother came out to the car and started an argument with the friend (who never got out of the car) and the friend pulled a gun from the back seat.. supposedly he was just trying to scare them away/protect himself if need be, but there was a struggle for the gun, the gun went off.. shooting the boyfriend in the side and his brother somewhere (I can't remember where). The brother lived, the boyfriend died right there. We were supposed to determine.. if he went there with the intent to harm them or if it was really just in self defense. The trial lasted about 2 days.. and then we spent 3 days in deliberation. The deliberation part was really terrible, except the fact that we got a really good free lunch every day. We were stuck in a small room (thank god there was a window) with different types of people.. with different backgrounds and different opinions. Some people were not at all open minded, and were just too hard headed to come to an agreement, so it ended in a hung jury. It felt like such a waste of time, but it was really neat for me.. because I don't know enough about the judicial system.
So anyway, I am not sure if I will get picked. I'm sure Hays doesn't have a whole bunch of interesting cases.. it'll probably be something lame, like disputing a speeding ticket or something.

Just About Finished
My project is almost done. I just need to touch up a few places.. and throw a second coat on the small red wall. I will probably post another picture once I get the furniture back in place.. but, I thought I'd go ahead and put my work on display:
The yellow is a little bit more yellow than we were hoping for, but I think it looks ok.

Loss of Info
I was attempting to change my blog background to something really cute, I read the directions on how to do it. (It's a little different than Myspace) So, I found out that if you don't save your page elements... they will be deleted. I made sure to do that.. and I changed my background. Then, I found one that I liked better and changed it again. Without saving again.. and I lost everything! Ahhh! So.. My 101 List has gone bye bye! Which is a little bit sad, I was marking things off slowly but surely. Oh, and my archive is gone too.. boo!

Project Paint - part 2
Ok, So here are the pictures of the ugly wall:
Mia is supervising :)
So, that's what Mexican Chile looks like on our wall. Yuck!
That's ok though, I'm over it. I think I have found the colors that I am looking for! They were inspired by a new downtown condo building that just went up. I took this picture today, while sitting in traffic:
Diego and I drove past this building and we both thought those colors looked good together so here we go.. Round 2: Roasted Pepper & Sweet Maple:
I'm off to get started!

Project Paint
I've been trying to write this blog for a while.. and it's really hard not to go into extreme detail.
Basically... I have been wanting to paint our living room for some time. Diego described it as a page in a coloring book.. that hasn't been colored yet.. and I agree!!
So, I was wanting to do something drastic.. to take away from all the green we have in the living room. Our couches are green, and we have a ton of plants! I've had tons of ideas.. but the one that kept coming back to me was some kind of terracotta burnt orangish color. NOT UT orange though!! I wanted to paint the main living room wall, the orange color and the accent the orange with a tealish/turquoise color. Then pick up the turquoise in the kitchen. So we finally narrowed down all the orange colors.. and bought Mexican Chile.
OMG.. We get home and I open the paint can. It is Orange.. very very Orange. I freak out. I tell Diego and that I am not sure if that's going to work. It didn't look the same as it did on the damn card!!! So we put some paint on the card.. and sure enough it's the right color. So I say what the hell.. just try it.
So, when I got off of work on Sunday.. I taped up the edges and got to work..
I F-ing HATE IT!!!!!!! It looks like Home Depot threw up on our wall!! I have to repaint this wall.. immediately, if not sooner! I should have listened to Diego when he said he thought some sort of red color would look better. Now I am thinking a "reder" orange would look a lot better!

July 4th
Hope everyone had a good July 4th weekend! We had a good time, Friday we went tubing on the Guadalupe.. it was freezing cold as always.. but well worth it! Next time we go, I am going to buy a water proof camera to get some pictures out on the water. Saturday, we went to Lexington to my Aunt Mary's July 4th get together that she always has. We hadn't been to her July 4th party in 3 or 4 years atleast.. so it was good to see faces we hadn't seen in a while.

Bingo!
We often try to come up with new things to go and do.. I mean, doing the same old things over and over gets old fast! So, we have brought BINGO out of retirement!! I started going a few years ago with my friends from AMA, I actually won $95 one night. It's a super cheap form of entertainment. It's fun and shoot you can win some gas money! The past 2 Saturdays I have drug the boys out to play with me. No one has won yet, but I'm sure our time is coming!! The only down side.. is that it gets very crowded.. and you are around some sketchy people. We have compared it to a bus stop. You pretty much see someone from every walk of life.
Sushi!
I'm glad to report that I actually stepped out of my comfort zone and and tried something that I NEVER try. Sushi! Before I continue, I must make note.. that I do NOT eat fish. I do not like the way it smells, I don't like the texture.. and the taste does nothing for me. So yesterday I was browsing around HEB and came across the Sushi kiosk, which I normally pass right up!, but this time I stopped to check it out.. and all of a sudden it, it actually started to look good. I decided to give it a chance. I have no idea what I am picking here, I have heard of some of that stuff before, but never actually tried it. Before I really go patting myself on the back.. I should also note that I ended up choosing the Vegetarian Rolls and Philadelphia Rolls with get this.. imitation crab. So I didn't eat any fish.. but I felt really cool!
The Verdict: I think it's an acquired taste.. I liked the Phillie Roll better I think because the Veggie Roll has seaweed on the outside.. so it had a funny taste, after I peeled the seaweed off those were much better! Someday I will branch out and try a new kind. Thumbs Up!
Oh and Diego.. HATED it! that was really funny to watch!
The Vegetarian Roll

Philadelphia Roll with Imitation Crab
