Baby Aliya is here.. she came into the world yesterday.. 10/30/08 at 3:39 pm.. Weighing in at a whopping 9lbs 1 oz! 21 inches long! She looks just like her daddy!

Welcome Roomie

The room we once called "Stephanie's Room" now has a new name.. Brad's Room. Over the weekend my cousin Brad moved into our extra bedroom.. we are happy to have him here, it will be nice to not be all alone when Diego works in the evenings. He hasn't gotten settled in yet, but soon enough..

I had the pleasure of babysitting my friend Ashley's little boy on Saturday. His name is Gavin, he's 2 and he is super cute.. We had a good time, first we went to my mom's house where he played with Jennifer's soon to be step-daughter, Lyla.. and then we went to Diego's mom's house where he took a good nap and played with our nephew, Jackson. It was good practice even though it was really exhausting, but makes me excited for the day that I have my own baby to play with!

We Voted!!!

Today we stood in line forever to vote! Over 2 hours.. We got there around 2:10, mind you this is on a Friday afternoon, and we did not leave until 4:30. There were times when I thought "F-This" but I know it's important and the closer it gets to election day.. the worse it's going to get. I guess that's what voting is like in a small town. You can't just go to the local HEB parking lot to vote.. like we did when we lived in Austin. I'm not one talk religion or politics, but what the hell:

Trying on Dresses

Jennifer and I, with our moms and Aunt Clonda went to try on dresses for her wedding! This time it was at Alfred Angelo.. which it was a little weird going back in there since I had been let go back in March. I was feeling awkward as I walked through the doors, but everyone greeted me very nicely so I was instantly relaxed. I tried on a few bridesmaid dresses and Jenn tried on a few dresses! I actually think she found her dress! My favorite bridesmaid dress is still one I tried on at Davids.

Holiday Schedule

I work for the state.. and I am happy to be a state employee...
When I first started, I was so excited to have the state holidays..
Well.. Of course, I got stuck with the state job that does not close on holidays!!
I work for the CPS abuse hot line..
and unfortunately people don't make exceptions to beating their kids on holidays..

So.. every year I hold my breath and wait to see what holiday I get stuck with.

This year.. I get to miss out on Thanksgiving.. and the day after. Which is pretty sucky.. because I work Sun-Thursday normally.. and this means I am scheduled Sun-Friday. According to my boss, this might not work.. so hopefully I can get this changed. If not it will be a long week.. and I will be getting Thanksgiving leftovers again this year. Boo!

I shouldn't be upset.. I do get the whole week of Christmas off.. and New Years Day!

All I have to say is...

Project Runway

I may have mentioned in another post that I have recently started watching Project Runway.. and I am so happy that I did. I really have grown to love this show, and I wish I had started watching it from the beginning! When I started watching it.. I didn't really know how the show went.. but I quickly caught on. From the first episode I caught, I really liked Kenley's work.. She makes fun party clothes.. with lots of color and she makes it girly.. with out over doing it!

Tonight is the final episode.. and they had to put together a collection for the final fashion show at Bryant Park. The final 4 were, Jerrell.. Korto.. Leanne and Kinley. On the last episode, they had to create a wedding dress (they actually got to go home for 2 months to make the wedding dress, and their collection for Bryant Park) and then they were surprised to find out when they got back they would have to create a bridesmaid dress as well. They were told only 3 would be able to make it to Bryant Park.. and sadly.. the last man standing.. Jerrell was sent packing. I liked Jerrell too by the way.

Now, it's down to Kinley.. Leanne.. and Korto. Leanne is.. well.. kinda boring. She is my moms pick to win because she says real people would wear her clothes.. to me.. she doesn't use enough color and her dresses for her final collection all look the same. Korto uses color.. and I do like her a lot.. and I would like to see her win over Leanne. The judges seem to really like all 3 of these girls.. I just hope they like Kenley the best! Despite her snotty attitude....

Hook Em'!!!

Yesterday, we hosted my family to the Texas vs Oklahoma game..
We had good food and good fun!
It was an even better day since the Longhorns came out on top!
I wasn't sure how the Longhorns were going to play,
but they really impressed me and the rest of the world I think too!
I can't wait to see where they are in the rankings now!

Brandy's Shower

My friend Brandy's baby shower was a couple of weekends ago.. and it was a huge success!! She got tons of cute stuff.. and lots of diapers. I had a good time seeing people I hadn't seen in a while. The best part was No drama - just good fun!

By the way, some one else showed up with a diaper cake... it was much smaller than mine, but I have to admit it was very cute!

Holding Our Breathes

We've known this was coming for about 6 months or so.. but yesterday Diego officially lost his job. The company that he has been working for, for the last 6 years was bought out by another company and is in the process of moving to Kansas City. It's a very uneasy feeling knowing that we don't have a for sure income. It's causing a bit of stress around our house, so.. we are just waiting.. hoping.. and praying.. that he finds a job as soon as possible. He is a great worker so any job would be lucky to have him!! I would prefer him to get a job with the state.. but at this point, anything will do.

That's the latest around our house... we're just waiting to exhale..
