Yesterday, Diego and I went out to Elgin to the Evergreen Farms and cut down our Christmas tree.. We had been wanting to do this for the last few years but we always settle with Home Depot! We decided to make a little trip out of it and went to go eat at Meyer's BBQ. I wouldn't recommend it. I haven't eaten at the other BBQ places in Elgin, but I was not impressed with Meyers. But hey.. the tea was good!
So we got to the farm.. we drove straight there! I was happy about that because normally we get lost when we don't know where we are going! At first, we were not sure how everything worked, but we got some help and we walked (by choice, we could have ridden the tractor) down to the fields. I was wanting to get a Leyland Cypress.. instead of a pine tree this year, because I hate all the needles getting stuck in the carpet! So we walked through rows and rows of trees! No Leyland Cypress to be found.
We must have walked around for 30 minutes, finally we saw a lady that worked there and asked her.. and she pointed to 2 small rows of the Cypress trees. They were heavily picked through, and we thought we weren't going to find our tree :( Then she came back and pointed to two other rows, where there were a few standing at perfect height. It took us a while to narrow down the options.. but we finally found our tree :D
As Diego reached for his gloves to start sawing away.. he realized that at some point he dropped one of his gloves! Bummer! So we thought heck, let's just go back and look for it. Of course, we never found it... but the tree was not at all difficult to cut, so it wasn't a big deal.
After the tree was cut the man came and picked us up in the tractor and took us back. We paid and left. It was a pretty fun day, and a neat experience! Despite it being a little cold for my liking!
The Lone Glove..
I love our tree and all if it's imprefections :D
