Slumber Party!

Also this weekend, I had the pleasure of attending Bailey's 6th birthday party... which was her 1st slumber party! My friend Brandy, Bailey's mom, asked me to please come over and help/keep her sane during the party. On the way over to their house, I was trying to mentally prepare myself for all the craziness that I had instore for me! Luckily, when I got there.. I found out that only 2 girls were coming over. Total of 3 girls. I was very ok with only 3 girls. I was expecting like 6 or 7. One of the little girls, Cierra, has been Bailey's friend for a few years.. and she is in Bailey's Kindergarten class. The other little girl, Kaden (guessing at the spelling of her name), was only 3 years old! She is the daughter of one of Brandy's Co-workers.. so being the young one and the not so well known.. she had the odds against her. We had to keep telling the older girls to make sure they were including her!

*Note: it is nearly impossible to get 3 kids to take a picture with all eyes open!*

This was probably the 10th attempt at this picture!

Day One..
we did all the normal birthday party stuff.. cake, presents, pizza. The girls watched High School Muiscal and two of them fell asleep watching Tinkerbell. They slept in floor of Bailey's room and I slept in Bailey's bed. That would have been just fine, however.. Kaden was not ready to go to sleep with everyone else. She stayed up until nearly 2 am! Which meant.. I stayed up until nearly 2 am. She kept trying to play with stuff near her sleeping bag. Finally, she started trying to actually go to sleep.. she layed down.. then coughed.. and coughed.. and coughed.. her poor little head off! Somehow, I managed to get a little bit of sleep.

The next morning.. Everyone's in a good mood

Day two..
After breakfast, everyone got dressed and we went across the street to the little playground. That got boring quick.. so we went back to the house and painted nails. Kaden just had to put make up on, so I busted out the Hannah Montana make up that I got Bailey and put some make up on her. Thankfully, the make up hardly shows up.. so it just looked like she had lip gloss on.

I remembered that I had my little heilum tank in the car, from the baby shower. When I bought the helium tank, I noticed it came with stickers to make faces on the balloons. So, I thought that would something cool for them to do until there parents came. So after there nails were dry. I got the helium tank.. and they had a blast!

A Shower for Delaney

You may have checked my twitter over the weekend, and read that I was co-hosting a baby shower for my sister-in-law, Erica and her baby girl Delaney Marie, on Saturday. To be different, and to have little clean up and preparation on our part.. we decided to have it at a restaurant. We went to El Mercado on Lavaca St. and held the shower in the Fiesta Room. It was just about perfect! Seeing as we had people coming from far north and deep south!

El Mercado

I ordered the cake for the baby shower, from the Sweet Stuff in Kyle.
I gave her an invitation and she did a wonderful job!
She is officially my cake maker!

Twitter

Brad convinced me to start a twitter page.. and I have to say, I'm feeling a little old. I don't know how to work it!! I have managed to follow a few people though.. It went through my gmail address book and added people that I know.. however some showed up at first, and now they are gone. What happened? Who knows.. I think I need a twitter lesson.

If anyone out there has twitter.. let me know so I can stalk you! :D

The Front Flower Bed

Is finished.
Last you heard, I was supposed to be posting a picture of the half way mark.
half way done
Not much difference excpet we added the trelis and flower pots...

Trelis

We bought the flower pots at a place out by the flea market.
Flower Pot

We thought we were planting jasmine, turns out they were roses.
We got them from the Kyle HEB in the throw away section for $5...
They didn't have any blooms on them at the time.. but when they did come out..
it was clear, that it was not jasmine.
Rose

Here is the finished product. Mulched and watered.
All done

Can't wait for everything to start growning!

Girls.. Girls.. Girls!

I think this may be the year of the little girl! Several people I know are having girls soon! My friend Ashley found out today she's having a girl!! Funny, because she was not wanting a girl this time around. When she was pregnant with Gavin, she wanted a little girl soo bad! I guess after having so much fun with spider man and dinosaurs, she didn't think she was cut out for barbies and dress up! haha..
Anyway.. Ava Michelle will be here in August! Congrats Ash, Johnny and Gavin!

By the way...

not much has been going on with us.. so, that's the reason for some many TV related entries.

On another note: Our front flower bed is not finished yet.. but we have added a couple of things. I'll post a pic later.

ALSO: Today starts one of my favorite times of year. The NCAA basketball tournament. I plan to sit at home and watch basketball all day for the next 2 days.. and as much as I can after that. Wish me and Diego luck on our brackets! Hopefully we win big!!

United States of Tara

It comes on Sundays at 9, on Showtime. It's a great show. Diego and I are really into it. Toni Collette does a great job playing her different personalities.. plus, I love John Corbett, Aidan from Sex and the City. He pretty much plays the same character. They are already pretty far into the season, but I recommend renting it when it comes out on dvd.

The Sopranos

Brad has the first four seasons of The Sopranos on DVD, so I've been watching them. I'm flying through! I started last week and finished season 2 yesterday. I love that I get to watch them back to back.. instead of waiting week to week.. and season to season. I'm probably not appreciating it as much as the folks who put years into it!

I am completely addicted to HBO shows! Sex and the City, Six Feet Under and The Sopranos! I guess next up will be Entourage.. oh and True Blood!
The Sopranos

Six Feet Under

I don't think I have ever blogged about me and Diego watching Six Feet Under. We have been renting the seasons on Netflix.. it has taken forever! We started some time in October I think.. and we are barely starting Season 5 (the last season) now. It's hard to find a time that Diego and I can both sit down and watch it together, especially when there are so many other shows coming on every night. We should be finishing it shortly. Can't wait to see what happens!

Six Feet Under

It's Been A While

Hey Guys, I guess it's been a while since I've posted anything.. my work has cracked down and blocked everything blogspot and blogger. Which also means, I can not read any of the blogs I normally read. Whaaa! Luckily though, google reader still picks everything up and I can read them from there.. however, I can't see any pictures.. so that sucks. Usually, when I get home from work, I don't feel like sitting in front of the computer for another hour! So, my blog and myspace have fallen by the wayside. I'll work it out though...

The Front Yard: A work in progress

It's no lie that Diego and I completely neglect our front yard. The way our house is layed out, the living room looks directly at the back yard, so naturally.. we spend more time making it look good, because we see it more often. When we come home after work, we never really go back out to the front yard.. so we have yet to do anything with it. I could never really come up with anything to do with it.. it's just so plain and boring.

Boring Front Yard

Every year, I do plant flowers and remulch the front, but I don't keep up with it like I do the backyard. It's looking pretty rough!

Close up of Flower Bed

Yesterday, when I got off work.. Diego and I went to Lowe's (Yes! the new Lowe's in Kyle, Love it!) We bought what seemed like a million (red castle wall) bricks, top soil, cow manure, and pete humus. My car was riding low!

Saturn Loaded Down

When we got home, we dug up the few flowers we had and tilled up the dirt.

Plants removed, Soil tilled

Our yard slopes down towards the house, and it makes it hard to see the flower bed from the road. So I wanted to build the flower bed up a little, also so that grass would stop growing in my flower bed!

First Layer Boarder

Boarder Finished
The boarder is not that high, but it definitely makes it more noticeable from the street. I can't wait until the next step! Trellises, flowers, and hanging baskets! Stay tuned..
